To Dob in the “Leader” Or Not?

The “leader” may not be the guru you think they are.

Yesterday I had to take a decision about dobbing someone in for the possible greater good.

As a kind soul, it’s not my love nor norm to be “tell-titting.”  But integrity is one of my top values so I weighed up the “shall I say or shall I not” scales and immediately found myself hitting the email send button to a local organisation who is organising an upcoming month long of events to honour Mental Health Awareness Month.

Heck.  I recognised the photo and write-up of someone, being described on social media with links to a national newspaper, who was about to facilitate an event as part of that upcoming month. Guru, money gone missing, people losing their livelihoods was the topic at hands for some affected people, with this character being named as one of the “gurus” connected to this saga.

This just didn’t feel right, despite me having met him just a week or two before.  He appeared confident, well-articulated and a “healer” of sorts – more along the mystical, manifestation-al line than mainstream.  He too was going by another name which to me rang a few alarm bells – firstly for the change of name, but also the kind of name he’d assumed which put him, let’s say, “into another dimension.”

I do not typically believe a lot of what’s reported in the media, but could I leave it at that and take what I’d read like a grain of salt, or should I at least contact the organisation for them to research fully and make an informed decision.  My greater thoughts were those people in the community who I did not want to be taken advantage of.  In short, the organisatoin has withdrawn this person from their facilitator list.

Questions we may ask ourselves when dobbing in dilemma-ing.

·       Do I offer an olive leaf and find out from the horse’s mouth what’s going on in case I completely have the wrong perspective, or do I say something without that perspective? I felt it my duty to pass on the article for the “leadership and organising team” to discern and decide.

·       Do I say nothing and hope for the best.   My gut said “no.”

·       Do I suggest to the organisers what I would do - being to invite the person in for a chat, show them what we’ve read, and to get his/her angle on that?

·       Do I risk being branded too bold for my boots and be seen as unnecessarily or inappropriate judgemental?

I went on my gut feeling.   Today I feel relieved (plus the odd twang of “sh**”) when I pushed send.  I “dobbed”.

Astrologically more darkness is coming to light in the world as we speak.  More exposure is happening of “leadership and influencers” who have not been in integrity. We see one side, but the underbelly is vastly different.  Lesson to self and lesson to us all.  Be clean in our word.  Be clean in our deeds.  Be in our integrity.

As my father often said, “Be sure your sins will find you out.”  I guess that was about integrity.   And dobbing in can be an action of integrity and care for the greater good, and perhaps for the person themselves.

What ‘s your opinion on this?

Here’s another example. Deepak Chopra faced severe public backlash and lost his academic position in early 2026 after newly released government documents exposed his extensive, friendly correspondence with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
